Gujarati Samaj Youth Group (SGSYG) was established in 1999. Goal of the youth group is to help and guide young members of Samaj , to teach them cultural and core values, help them to build strong character and realize their full potential as responsible citizens and leaders. We envision them to lead ourSamaj in coming days. Youth group has developed many community-based programs as well as promoting Gujarati culture by putting on a production once a year to celebrate Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights. Throughout the years the youth group has organized after-school tutoring program for community children, monthly feeding project for the homeless. During the winter holidays, members can be found caroling at the local convalescent home, or making survival kits for the homeless by collecting blankets, gloves, scarves, as well as other supplies. Members participate in local coat, toy and canned food drives, always reaching out with a helping hand within our community.
In the past, youth group members have provided services such as serving and ushering at local or private events. Members travelled throughout California and even Nevada to provide these services. In January 2005, the S.G.S.Y.G. organized a Tsunami Relief Benefit in three weeks, raising over $20,000. Every single cent of the proceeds went to two International Organizations, which were involved with the Tsunami Relief. Overall, the S.G.S.Y.G. places a great significance in helping out the community.
Gujarati Samaj Youth Group appreciate your time and contributions greatly. We are encouraging all the youths to join our youth program. We look forward to hearing from you.
